Let me re-phrase what is my problem again:

My company recently just bought this G3110 photo scanner, using Hp Scanning software 11.5.0166 firmware ver. 1.0.na. I install this program with administrator login and i am able to use this scanner with the Hp scanning software with no error. But when i login to a user account(no adminstrator right)and try to use the scanner with the Hp scanning software, it pop up an error msg (as shown in the screenshot below):

Seeing this error, i try to use the mircosoft scanner and camera wizard and it is able to detect this G3110 photo scanner.

My company is using window XP professional, and i am sure is something to do with the hp scanning software.

  7. Can anyone explain to me how to get the image larger than 260x180 (approx) when scanning negatives? I've tried at least 40 times to reset the resolution to 1200, 600, whatever...but it keeps reverting back to 300 and these useless postage stamp sized scans. VERY clunky slow interface...is there any other more user friendly software I could use, or is it time to return this scanner? My main need for this type of scanner is to scan about 1000 negatives and 2000 slides. Have I chosen the wrong scanner?

BTW, the above wizard suggestion appears to be completely useless for negatives/slides.

  10. Just talked to HP about this and they say that you must be an admin to run the software. No other choice...no way we can let all our users be local admins so we're stuck.

  12. If anyone still has this issue, I found if I give everyone full permissions to the to the registry keys under HKLM\Software\Hewlett-Packard it fixes the issue. I only support 8 machines with this, and after spending too much time I never went deeper to find the exact registry key causing the issue. If you are comfortable with opening these keys to everyone, this works, and if you don't it can at least give you a starting point.

  13. how I can do this. which value must be change in the HKLM\Software\Hewlett-Packard??

  18. Hello,

My Company just purchased a HP Scanjet G3110 scanner and it is awsome in terms of quality and output. But is only issue is while we scan simple documents to PDF it creates very heavy file size 2-3 document (5-4 MB). How can I reduce that filesize while scanning. Have tried to reduce the resolution to 150 ppi but of no use. Can someone help me with that?

  19. you can download and install HP Scanjet Full Feature Software and Driver it is compatible with the following operating systems.

Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit), Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit), Microsoft Windows Vista, Microsoft Windows Vista (64-bit), Microsoft Windows XP

    setup_full_G3110_3.exe (167 MB)

this will surely reduce the file size of the pdf from the hp scanners, it owuld be around kb output pdf's

  25. We have these scanjets in our labs and have consistent problems with them. A student will scan photo A. The next student scans photo B, but the only image that will show up is still Photo A. Every scan after that will be photo A. I have had to uninstall and reinstall the software over and over for this. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  26. My G3110 worked fine on Vista. Now I'm using Win 7 (32 bit) and it won't scan negatives (keep getting error message). Tried uninstalling and reinstalling software and harware, but nothing works. Even downloaded patches, etc to no avail. HP really needs to work on their software upgrades as there is no support for the G3110 when using Win7.

  28. i cant get this scanner to scan to PDF. i have downloaded all the drivers and updates after using the instalation disk. i press the PDF button and the only options are image files. i also tryed going through the device manager to open it and still nothing. i am running windows 7 64bit.

  29. Is there a way to change the setting so it only scans letter size? My G3110 is scanning the full-length of the bed (11 3/") so all scans show a portion of the film tray. You'd think if it were scanning a document it could be set to scan only 11".

  30. I have this scanner primarily to scan slides. Kept getting error message that it can't communitcate and gave me a list of things to do to try and fix it. Did allof them including uninstalling my software. Now I can't find the solution center software to download to be able to run it. Ridiculous that you have to jump through hoops to do something that the hardware is supposed to do so easily!
