ReplyDeleteHm and what about Network Printers?
ReplyDeletethanks I did it/ It works again
ReplyDeletethanks. very useful.
ReplyDeleteThanks very much dude. very much
ReplyDeleteMy next printer after about 50 of them won't be from HP
ReplyDeleteIf its through a network, go manually add the printer locally, even though its not local. Use Windows update to get the driver, and install the phantom printer locally. It doesnt actually check if its there. THEN go install the network version, and it will install no problem!
ReplyDeletei cant install the driver. this error appear."printer driver was not installed.operation could not be completed.(error 0x80240022).anyboby can help me?

You might be using 64-bit operating system, is that true?
i have network printer hplj 4200; i could not install it on the network, saying win 7 could not find printer driver; but i can install it on lpt01 (local). . . what the heck?! so much for win 7. . .
ReplyDeleteFirst, with the released version, I had to "update drivers" from Microsoft. HP Laserjet 4000 was not "built in" as everyone says. I dare anyone to try to find it from a clean install of Windows 7. And the old driver had pictures of trays so you could just click the picture rather than go to the pull down menu. No pictures with the new drivers. Not quite as easy as represented.
ReplyDeleteThank a lot for helping with network printers.
ReplyDeleteMate, so helpful, thanks heaps... cheers!
ReplyDeleteWhat if we didn't have internet connetion, I mean what if we are offline?! :(
ReplyDeleteThank you! HP's support website was WORTHLESS just to get this basic bit of information. Their instructions (and I use that word loosely) on how to do this simple task were completely wrong.
ReplyDeleteI am trying to connect the printer through the network. Followed the post "If its through a network, go manually add the printer locally, even though its not local. Use Windows update to get the driver, and install the phantom printer locally. It doesnt actually check if its there. THEN go install the network version, and it will install no problem"
ReplyDeleteGot the first part installed and showing locally. However when trying to install the Network version again still doesn't find the driver properly.
Anyone can help?
Tried this with a network printer laserjet 4100 and it didn't work even if installing it as a local printer first still did not find the drivers
ReplyDeletethanks, but even though the printer is identified this doesn't work.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Done!

ReplyDeleteI have a New Dell Inspiron laptop with an Windows 7 OS, and I found it vexing since I followed your steps exactly and got no positive results. The brand new HP printer, whose driver is Inbuilt on the laptop, wouldn't print anything; even with a "troubleshooter" check, the issue remains - TS indicated that there isn't a problem. So is there anyone out there who can help me resolve this "argument" between my laptop and printer?
ReplyDeleteHi, it's me again, I forgot to say something about the CD that came along with the HP printer, it only connects with XP, Vista, or MAC OSs; the software got a hiccup with Windows 7.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous @ January 7, 2010 11:16 PM -- I appreciate and will help you further if you can let me know the model no of the printer.
ReplyDeleteThanks, people! It works now! =D Very helpful article, thank you!
ReplyDeleteThere is a whole bunch of drivers not available, and installation for network printers doesn't work either.
ReplyDeleteHP printer again ?? --- NO WAY !!!
Needed to update the Wundows update to refresh the listing, but managed to install a driver for my Brother HL-730. Thanks for the advice.

ReplyDeleteAns,
ReplyDeleteI am trying to print from a Windows 7 notebook to a DeskJet 990c printer on my XP computer. When this laptop had Vista, it printed fine. On 7 it can see the printer on the network, installs it, but won't print.
I have tried all posted solutions. Nothing works.
Any suggestions?
Thank you.
Michael Ryshpan is it windows 7 64-bit? if so you can try this patch
ReplyDeleteknown issue with the 64 bit Visa and Windows 7 drivers that causes the spooler to crash with the following Deskjet printers.

I've been trying for over a week to install a hp laserjet 5mp on a windows 7 (64b). brand new computer! It failed a download and shows this. windows update always says try again later. tried online tech chat 2x and phone tech 2x to no avail. ReplyDeleteHas anybody got a working solution for the 990c???
ReplyDeleteI have an HP laserjet 2100. I had to buy the cable that connects to the printer cable to convert to USB. When I plug that USB into my new HP pavilion desktop it finds the new device but does not recognize it as a printer(or anything, "Unknown Device") and cannot find drivers for it. Should I download the driver before I plug the printer in? Also, should I be downloading the driver thats called lasjer 2100 PC6, PCL5 or PS? I've tried all of them and when it gets to the test print stage nothing happens. The "Unknown Device" icon stays in my control panel list.

ReplyDeletePrinting works fine with my HP LJ 1100a on Windows 7, but I just cannot get the scanner to be recognized - even though people claim that this shoudl be possible. Any hints on this should be very much appreciated :-)!
ReplyDeleteHi -- still trying to install that laserjet 5mp into a windows 7 system. Here is more info. Windows update never seems to connect to give me more drivers to select from. I found out now my Trend security software is also unable to update. Any settings I need to change that may fix both problems?
ReplyDeletethanks
what about windows 7 - 64 bit and hp 1300 printer compatibility. i am purchasing a used one and want to know now if it is going to work on my home computer
ReplyDeleteHi All,
ReplyDeleteI have a HP Deskjet 400 printer and the HP website says it doesn't have a driver to download for it. Apparently, a 'basic driver' is available on Windows 7 automatically, but not being very computer literate, I've had absolutely no luck in locating this. I gave HP a quick call, but after being told it cost GBP16 (wtf!!!) for ANY advice, I decided that route wasn't worth pursuing any more.
Has anyone any advice or tips that could help?
Cheers!
Hi All,
ReplyDeleteUpdate re HP Deskjet 400: Happily I've managed to install the printer to my desktop. However, unhappily, when I go to print something out, it will print out garbled characters and then the ink cart empty light will blink and the printing stops. Any tips or advice would be much appreciated?
Thanks again!

ReplyDeleteI have an eight year old HPpsc2175 printer and just bought a new Toshiba with Win 7. Attempting to install the app for the printer met with failure, until I followed the Sunday August 9, 2009 instructions. Lo and Behold the installation was a complete success. The old printer is back in business with a new computer. Thank you Thank you. You saved me from having to buy and new printer to match Win 7.
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for this article, and most especially thanks to Sir Cujo for the following info - I am now able to print from Win 7 x64 through a local network to an HPLJ 1100.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I agree with the guy who stated that HP's support really sux on this matter. Sir Cujo addresses the entire problem in under 50 words!
{Sir Cujo Posted this above: thanks again budy!}

ReplyDeleteI have a hp laserjet 2840, I cannot get it to load on Windows 7, 64 bit, I donloaded an upgrade drivers for printer but guess what I have no idea what I do with drivers. Please help
ReplyDeleteThe default HP printer configuration included in Windows 7 is for LETTER paper. With the 8500 v13 driver install the default Windows configuration overrides the configuration included with the driver.
ReplyDeleteOn XP by using a custom configuration file (built using HP tools) I can change the factory default paper size to say A4 and install this using v14 of the drivers.
I was able to get this to work on a Network Printer. But I did not use the poster's solution totally. When you add printer and the choose printer port dialog pops up, choose Create a New Port. Select Standard TCP/IP port. On the Type a Hostname / IP, put in the IP number for your network printer. You may need to contact your System Administrator if you dont know it. Then on the next screen select the driver of your printer (you may need to click Windows Update if your driver doesn't show). Then just go through the next steps and wala it should print just fine.
ReplyDeleteThank you SOO MUCH!!!!! Not sure how I did this, but using your instruction, I had to use Windows Update, but I removed the CD......, update found the driver and installed it.....reinserted the CD....I was confused, but the darn thing works for now! Had my new Win 7 for a year, but just found out about installing the driver from a Staples tech where we bought another computer.
