How do I know what operating System I Have 32bit or 64bit ?

If you would Like To Know which operating system you computer is running on,this might be silly , but it worth a lot when it comes to software upgrades and microsoft and linux windows service pack upgrades of your operating systems, you can track back the Version Number that you are running with the latest available version

For Windows computers, the operating system version appears on one of the screens when you first start up your computer (example: Windows XP, Windows Vista).

Windows Vista:-

Click Start, In Start Search Type System. Click on System or System Information in program list

64-bit Operating System appears for the System type under System, then your computer is running with 64bit operating system

32-bit Operating System appears for the System type under System,then your computer is running with 32bit operating system

Microsoft Windows XP Professional:-

1. Click Start, click Run, type sysdm.cpl, and then click OK.

2. Click the General tab. The operating system appears as follows:

For a 64-bit version operating system: Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 Edition Version appears under System.

For a 32-bit version operating system: Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version appears under System.

Alternatively,

1. Click Start, click Run, type winmsd.exe, and then click OK.

2. In the system information popup window, check the processor value

If the Processor starts with x86, the computer is running a 32-bit version of the Windows operating system.

If the Processor starts with ia64 or AMD64, the computer is running a 64-bit version of the Windows operating system.

Also, Click Start, click Run, type winver, and then click OK to know the version and the service pack information that is installed on your pc.

How to check Windows for 32-bit OS or 64-bit OS on remote computer? Just follow the below steps to check that.

If you would like to know the other computer(remote computer or ) system information in a network then you need to open the system information window by

Click Start, click Run, type winmsd.exe, and then click OK.

Click On View(CTRL+R) and Click on Remote Computer.

Type the Remote computer Name and Click On OK

For MAC computers, you can find the operating system under the Apple symbol in the Mac OS Menu bar at the top of the screen. Open the menu and select “About this Mac”. The window will display the Mac OS version.
