Destination Component Has Stopped Working-Scanning To PDF

Destination component has stopped working error when scanning to PDF, encountered the same error when trying to save a scanned file to pdf format using my 6300 series all-in-one. though the pdf file is saved in the destination folder, when tried to open with adobe acrobat reader it says "Adobe Reader could not open pdf because it is either not a supported file type or because the file was damaged". As a blind shoot i opened the file though it says the file size is 0 kb

Not sure what exactly is causing the Destination component has stopped working error.Eager to find the solution, is it the adobe acrobat reader or the HP Software unable to find the destination program(pdf program). I tried reinstallaing both the applications adobe as well as HP Software by downloading from the web with no luck.

One way i could get it worked once is to repair the destination software. I did this by going to temp file folder(when you double click on the downloaded hp software file, extraction takes place and places the extracted files in the temp folder)

You can access the temp folder by clicking on start-->Run---> type "%temp%" without quotes and hit enter. This will bring up the temp folder, go to 7zS0B06\setup\destinations folder(in case of 6300 series)should find two files in the destination folder data1 and destination installer package.

Right click on executable desitnation installer package file and click on repair(if you are asked for the destination.msi during repair browse to the same location of destination.msi and click on Ok to continue the repair.) you might need to restart your pc if required.

I will post any possible solution here if i find , use the below comments section to discuss and post the solutions if any.

Thanks!!

  1. I'm buying anything but HP from this point onward for my network at work and home...They are going to lose out on a considerable amount of cash.

  2. I had bad experience with HP laptop Dv2000. It was a recall and hp refused to fix it because it passed the warranty period. I will never ever buy anymore HP product again in my life. Bad customer service too.
