The share to web upload folder will be installed along with the HP photo and imaging software or other HP softwares, you might be using any of the hp products, like hp scanners, hp printers, hp all-in-one. when attempting to delete the share to web folder, your computer might not respond or your computer freezes.(HP share to webfolder freezes the computer when clicking on it)

Follow the below steps in order to delete or remove the share to web folder icon from your desktop(make sure that the hp photo and imaging software is installed and the listed in the Start--All Programs.) you can also check the installed hp softwares from Add/Remove programs in control panel.

1. Click Start.
2. Click Programs.
3. Click HP Share-to-Web.
4. Click HP Share-to-Web Setup Wizard.
5. Click Next.
6. At the Site Selection and Signup screen click Next.
7. Click No, do not show the Share-to-Web Upload Folder.
8. Click Next.

The above solution would work in most of the cases, if you still unable to delete the share to web folder then head to the below alternate solution.

" No, do not show the Share-to-Web Upload Folder.

6. Click on Next (You no need to Signup for any thing there).
7. Click Finish.

This should remove the Share-to-Web Upload Folder from your computer desktop. And it will be in the Start->All Programs. If you find it in the All Programs then right click on it and click either delete or remove and then go to Recycle Bin and delete it permanently.

Incase if the folder cannot be deleted/removed then, download and install the below patch, restart the computer and then delete the "Share-to-Web" folder.

  1. If you do all of the removal methods described, they will not work. At least on my machine, when you try to click next when prompted, the wizard crashes. This is the method I found to work.

  7. All I wanted was a driver for my scanner but the only one is 240MB from HP for my scanner. 240 million bytes. Then STUPID HP installs all this other crap on my computer without asking during the install. Share to web, print via the web? Dumb Asses. I want to print on my printer, not off on some remote website but that's the default. Then they set it so we can't remove the icon or in my case I can't even click on it, if I right click onShare-to-Web it crashes Windows explorer.exe every time. It's not shown in all users-desktop or my profile either. So I end task on explorer, and start a new explorer instance to keep going.

  9. I agree with the Anonymous guy from Feb 7th.

Now we're expected to do a potentially harmful registry edit for something that shouldn't be there in the first place?

Nice work HP. Thanks for solidifying my decision to go with other brands.

  10. Why oh why does any of this software even get shipped. Not needed and is poorly written.

  11. I got rid of it using the recommended method. Not happy at all with HP for force-feeding unwanted functionality on me and will keep it in mind when selecting future products.

  13. The scanner software has been slow and clodgy since I first got it, and now this problem has been freezing my computer with boring regularity. I uninstalled the scanjet 3500c software and will not use HP devices again.

  14. I consider the uniqueness of this desk top icon to be malicious and operating like an unfriendly virus in removing the normal control over desk top icons and going a step furhter in freezing my computer. This is exactly the way malicious viruses operate. At a minimum it is a bad marketing technique.

  15. DUMB STUPID FU*KS!!!!!!!!!!

I wish there were the option to download 200 kB driver and driver alone, not 500 mega-crap-that-will-do-with-your-pc-whatever-it-wants.

I TRUELY HATE HP FROM NOW ON!

  16. Why on earth is there no driver only download. I will NEVER use any of the bloatware HP insisted on wasting my download bandwidth on. As for the share-to-web crap (the only reason I am looking here), what an outrage!

My next product - ANYTHING but HP!

  18. HP makes good printers, but their software is usually awful and buggy. Unless you happen to have the exact same setup as their program has... whatever that is. I've never met anyone who has had luck with their software. The trick is to delete all HP software, and just use the hardware. I am still trying to get the Share-to-Upload Folder from my desktop. When I click properties I find it has not installed yet. But I cannot delete the program.

  21. The remove from desktop cause the program to crash and freeze. Excellent, NOT!!! HP are ridiculous, they have more class action suits against them because of bad software and faulty hardware than any other manufacturer in history.
