"CUEFuncts.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

You might encounter the above error message after installing the Unexpected Internal Error patch and pressing the scan button or using solution center, the following error message is displayed:

Click here to resolve the Unexpected internal error or Error communication with the scanning device With the HP Scanjet scanners and Printers.

There are several reasons this error could occur, When you use Photosmart printers or scanners and when you try to open the HP Solution center or the HP Director software, as a workaround you can try the below steps.

* Run HPQDSCTC file in:

C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\Digital Imaging\Bin OR c:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\Bin

* Completely uninstall the entire versions of scanner and printer (If installed) software, install the lower version followed by the scanner software.

* Download and install MDAC from below weblink and restart the computer.

* Download and install MSXML 4.0.

There will be four files you have to download:

msxml.msi
msxml4msms.exe
msxmlcab.exe
msxmlsdk.exe

After downloading all these files, double-click msxml.msi file for the installation to start. After updating MSXML files, restart the system.

* Download and install Windows Script Engine 5.6 and restart the computer.

*Reinstall the scanner software and then reinstall the printer (i,e Install lower version followed by higher version) alternatively download and install the latest version of the printer or scanner if avilable, check for the latest driver updates on HP website.


You might also get the "HP cue scanning flow component problem" error when opening the HP solution center or HP Director Software, not sure the above solution would work,however you can give a try by double clicking on the HPQDSCTC file.

Run or double click on the "HPQDSCTC" file in:

C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\Digital Imaging\Bin OR c:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\Bin

This should resolve the issue and if the issue persists then completely uninstall and reinstall from lower version to higher version.
